Richard Jasper

Rich Jasper is a practicing criminal defense lawyer in the New York City metropolitan area. He served as a clerk to Chief Judge Constance Baker Motley, United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York. He tried United States v. Ronell Wilson II, United States v. Vincent Basciano and United States v. Mallay. Served as learned counsel in United States v. Ahmed Abu Khattalah. He has been a member of the faculty at the Santa Clara Death Penalty College since 2008 and a member of the National College of Capital Voir Dire since 2014. He received the Gideon’s Promise Champion of the Community Award in 2023.  Rich is a long-standing member of the Federal Death Penalty Resource Counsel Project and became Director in 2024.
