Mark Donatelli is in private practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Rothstein, Donatelli, Hughes, Dahlstrom, Schoenburg & Bienvenu, LLP. He began specializing in death penalty defense in 1980 as Director of the New Mexico Prison Riot Defense Office. He has served as an expert witness on effective assistance of counsel in capital cases in numerous states and has served as learned counsel in numerous districts since 1995. The majority of his federal cases have involved complex, multiple defendant RICO conspiracies.
Mark is a frequent lecturer at national death penalty training conferences. He is a New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization recognized specialist in criminal trials. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America -- Criminal since 1989. He served on the New Mexico CJA Committee which developed a Capital Representation Plan and also was appointed to the New Mexico State Bar Commission Task Force to consider a Moratorium Resolution on the death penalty. He currently serves as a member of the New Mexico Sentencing Commission.
