Meri Ellzey

Meri Ellzey is the Director of Communications for the Federal Capital Trial Project. She has been a member of the Federal Death Penalty Resource Counsel Project (FDPRCP) since 2019, supporting project members and the federal capital defense community nationwide in their efforts to save the lives of their clients. She holds a degree in Organizational Communication and has extensive experience in strategic communication planning, consulting, and problem-solving within organizations and defense teams. She also serves as a paralegal and litigation support specialist for defendants facing the death penalty in federal and state courts across the country. Her most notable case is Glossip v. Oklahoma, in which the defense team saved Mr. Glossip from imminent execution and secured a remand from the Supreme Court of the United States in 2025.
