Deb Garvey is a mitigation specialist who worked in the Federal Public Defender office in Los Angeles for over 20 years. She was the Chief Investigator of the Capital Habeas Unit there for ten years, before moving to federal capital trial work. She became part of the Capital Resource Counsel Project in June of 2018. Previously Deb was an attorney with Legal Aid of Los Angeles, the director of a program for mentally ill homeless women in downtown Los Angeles, a long‐term substitute teacher for Spanish‐understanding, severely developmentally disabled children, the program director for a children’s program in Tijuana, and an apprentice in the master gardener program at the Mesa Project in Santa Barbara. She is a 1985 graduate of U.C. Davis Law School.
